Metro On Central is situated only a few short minutes North of Griffith University. Easy walking or biking distance to university if you feel like exercising (otherwise you can catch the shuttle bus right from Metro On Central).
Public transport can also be taken. There is a bus stop located very close to Metro On Central that can take you anywhere on the Gold Coast, all the way to the southern Gold Coasts world famous surfing beaches (Kirra & Greenmount) and the Gold Coast Airport.
Public transport on the Gold Coast mainly consists of Buses and Trains. The local Bus company is called Surfside Buslines and their website contains all of their timetables and routes.
Queensland Rail runs the train network. You can actually use a train to travel all the way north, to Cairns or the Great Barrier Reef, or just 45 minutes north of the Gold Coast is the states capital city, Brisbane. Queensland Rails routes and timetables can be found on their website so you can work out any travel plans before arriving.
Scooters/Mopeds are popular with the students as basic transport, they allow for cheap travel around the Gold Coast and can be purchased for very modest initial cost.
